This is a book to savor slowly, one page at a time, as an invitation to notice. To pause. To find the extraordinary in the everyday.

Flowering is a luminous collaboration between celebrated photographer Bruce Jackson and poet Diane Christian. Through the four seasons, Jackson’s vivid, full-color photographs reveal the quiet radiance of flowers and gardens, captured not as static still life, but as moments suspended in time. Christian’s accompanying words, by turns meditative, playful, reverent, respond with elegance and wit, offering poems, aphorisms, and simple gestures that echo the natural beauty unfolding on the page.
Shot in Buffalo and beyond—in Italy, France, New Mexico, Sicily, and Texas—these images and utterances form a richly textured dialogue between seeing and saying, between the ephemeral and the enduring.

“flowers are like us
(as is pretty much all we greedily see)
they live & die
& signify”
