What we do
BlazeVOX [books] presents innovative fictions and wide ranging fields of contemporary poetry. Our books push at the frontiers of what is possible with our innovative poetry, fiction and select non-fiction and literary criticism. Our fundamental mission is to disseminate poetry, through print and digital media, both within academic spheres and to society at large. We seek to publish the innovative works of the greatest minds writing poetry today, from the most respected senior poets to extraordinarily promising young writers. We select for publication only the highest quality of writing on all levels regardless of commercial viability. Our outlets of publication strive to enrich cultural and intellectual life, and foster regional pride and accomplishments. BlazeVOX consciously acquires a collection of titles providing focus, continuity, and a basis for the development of future publications. BlazeVOX is committed to the dissemination of knowledge.

Welcome to Winter! The snow is falling, finally, now in Buffalo. It is a beautiful scene of December. And so with the late date of publishing this issue, we are titling our Late Fall issue the more apt, Winter 2011. It has been a wonderful year and so to cap it off, it is with great honor and pleasure we present great selections from writers from around America and the world. As the snow falls we writers persist, keep on working our poetry and our stories and continue to read our poems and it is all rather exciting. There is a lot of work out there for poetry and in this issue we present a glimmering sliver of that shining potential. So get ready we have 60 authors from around the globe, including fifty-three poets and seven prose pieces. So hurray! Get Reading

Our New Shop
Our new site is just extraordinary! Do have a look around and please visit our new store! We have all of our books on display in an easy to use format. We now have a direct connection to a Look Inside feature for all, well most, of our books. You can now buy books directly from us! This is a great new way for us to directly share our fine books with you, our dear audience! Hurray! We have a New Release section that will tell you all about our new books so you can stay up to date with all of the great books we have to offer. And in our art gallery we have podcasts and a display of 100 of our coolest covers.
Our new logo is plastered all over the site so you probably won’t miss it :-) We have just honed in our look to keep up with the fashions of our new decade. Look forward to new features at BlazeVOX blog. We’ll be featuring poems from our books on a regular basis as well as updates on BlazeVOX books being reviewed and current author news. Thanksgiving Menu Poem - 10 Years
Hurray! It’s Thanksgiving once again, another November, another year gone by, and another time to feast with dear friends. This is the tenth Thanksgiving Menu-Poem and we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Burning Deck Press by toasting the wonderful Keith and Rosmarie Waldrop. The contributions of all three entities: Burning Deck Press, Rosmarie Waldrop and Keith Waldrop on the world of poetry are many and too numerous to mention here but provided in the next section is a full biography with works, awards and links to many forums of discussions on their work. There is also a nice exhibition on Burning Deck Press at the John Hay library, even if it is now ten years old. So make like an egg and beat it on over there and make a day of it! Hurray!
Poets and Book People
Self Portrait Fundraiser
Self Portraits of Poets and Book People: As a fund raising idea, we asked local and international poets and book people to send us a self-portrait. We set up a packet of paper, pens, markers and other art utensils along with return mailing. We received work from all around North America, including National Book Award winner Keith Waldrop and the first Canadian Poet Laureate, George Bowering. This was so much fun to watch as everything came together. In total we received 30 pieces of artwork, and we sold a great deal of it at the show. We also have an online shop where we will have for sale, the remaining pieces. So if you were not able to come to the event, but wanted to help out the press while taking home a self portrait of a favorite poet, here is your chance!
